About Me
More about me
My name is Garry Henderson, and I’ve been drawing and painting for over 40 years. Art has always been part of my life, even as I followed other paths — serving in the Royal Navy, working in the oil and gas industry, and now as a retained firefighter in Kirriemuir, where I live.
After years of doing commissions for friends and family, and sketching wherever I could — even on long-haul flights with pencil and paper balanced on a tray table — I’ve recently taken the leap to become a full-time professional artist. Most of my work focuses on portraits and still life, but I’m starting to explore abstract styles and experiment with AI-based art for cards and prints.
I’ve always believed that art should tell a story, whether it’s a family memory, a beloved pet, or a moment in time. I’m excited to be sharing my work more widely — especially during events like the Bon Scott Festival here in Kirriemuir — and hope to use this website as a way for people to discover my art and connect with what I create.
This is just the beginning of a new chapter for me, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it leads
